All strawberry cuttings are taken from Virus Indexed Stock. This helps to ensure that the liners that we sell are free from viruses which can devastate a strawberry crop. |
| All stock plants are grown in baskets hanging in the greenhouse. This is a sanitary measure that significantly helps to reduce the amount of pathogens that the plants come into contact with. Runners never touch the ground, leading to a much cleaner starter plant. Nutrition levels in the liners are checked on a weekly basis to make sure that our customers receive a rooted liner that is well fed and ready to grow vigorously after transplant. Rooted liners are acclimated to high light levels and ready for field transplant upon delivery. |
| Strawberry plants are susceptible to a wide array of disease and insect problems. Plants are routinely treated for the prevention of these pests. Anthracnose can be devastating to a strawberry crop. Extensive measures are taken to prevent and protect our liners against Anthracnose. We are working with North Carolina State University to make sure that our plants stay free of disease. |
| Rootshield granules are a biological fungicide that we incorporate into our media, both stock baskets and 50 cell liner trays. This helps to ensure that root diseases (Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Fusarium, Cylindrocladium and Thielaviopsis) are prevented and our customers receive a healthy root system ready for transplant. |

| Kube-Pak is and has been working
in cooperation with Rutgers, Penn State, Cornell and North Carolina
State Universities. These professionals have offered to assist in
any way that they can should problems arise. For Fall of 2010,
Kube-Pak and Penn State are working to trial some new plasticulture
varieties to see how they perform.
